Kenyan designer, The Imani House of Fashion, will debut the Dress-a-croch collection at the first ever Arise Africa Fashion Week in Joburg on Friday 19, June, 2009 at 6:00pm.

Designer Liz Ogumbo Dress-a-croch collection is inspired by a visit to her mother's house and local Kenyan crochet styles.

"On a brief visit to my mother's house, I found myself staring and falling in love with her well-spread old- skul crochet table clothe and my 'Dress-a-croch' collection came to life made out of cotton-poly fabric and with hints and finishing's of old-skul crochet techniques. The dots and bright colours bring out a vibrance and "all-time classic" edge that dressaholics must look out for this season", says Liz.

The collection is accents felinity with flair featuring dresses for all occasions, sizes and attitudes.

"My overall inspiration for the line is in-sync with the truth of the current situation in Africa, from which the true creativity, edge and style are derived from; I had the go ahead to bring back something fresh into style.

"The bright coloured cotton-poly fabric exudes the vibrance, richness and variety within the continent, whereas the old skul-crochet techniques have been intertwined to create and bring back a melange of our extremely creative handwork crochet techniques done by the local women", states Liz.

Besides vocally expressing myself and ‘speaking word' as often as I can in the lounges of Nairobi and wherever else I get the opportunity, my music is mainly inspired by life heavily influenced by jazz and blues.

I sing in English, Swahili, Luo and French and have my latest hit song recorded on the ‘just a band' album as I look forward to my own album soon enough. Have recorded with a couple of artists like Andre Mange, Ian Martin, ‘Just a band,' Wakamba wawili, Dodge, Sauti Sol, amongst other artists.
