Funny how we take hair for granted when it is actually growing on the head and suddenly the weaves become the order of the day.......but damn!
How is it that I finally gathered up my courage which is step 1 of ‘hair trauma' and started to grow an afro. Trust me; dealing with this nappy hair in its natural state is not a joke!
Months went by and my hair actually grew, but was rarely seen as I was rocking all sorts of hair collections to save the best for last. Finally after about a year, I visited my hairdresser to help me give my hair that uumph it seemed to be lacking.
So then I looked at the hair colour selection and settled on a hot orange/red and damn again! The hair was looking ever fresher. It was an exciting brand-new feeling being that I had never coloured my hair. It was a first time experience; enough to let out the red hot fro!
So I visited my hairdresser that afternoon and she was in agreement, ‘let the hair out!' she insisted. Then she advised me on how to get my hair more manageable as applied hair texturiser all over my hair.
"3 minutes only," she affirmed and then rushed me to the sink to wash the hair off the texturiser.
"Oh my!"
With the last rinse of my hair, it all fell in the sink!
And I was in shock for about 2 weeks now! Ans still devastated and in denial of what really went wrong, why my peanut head? And why now? And why ???????????
Yes my hair was all gone, after growing my natural hair for over a year. Now I have no hair but thank God for innovation, along with a pretty face; you know I am rocking no hair either way and still holding my swag!
